Joyful Tidings!!! November 4, 2017

Greetings!!

We have so many joyful tidings this week that we just can’t wait to get started…so here we go:

***TOMORROW’S TIDINGS:

EVERYONE GETS TO SLEEP IN TOMORROW!!!

For those of you who like to sleep in, you know that daylight savings time in the fall means one extra hour of sleep-in time!!! Remember, in order to enjoy that extra hour you need to remember to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed tonight :)

PROPHETIC MINISTRY AT CTF OTTAWA!!!

Our next prophetic ministry at Catch The Fire Ottawa will be this Sunday, November 5 right before the service from 1:15 to 1:45 PM. We have limited timeslots, so if you are interested in receiving prophetic ministry, be sure to come early and sign your name on the sign-up sheet that will be located on the wooden table right next to the door to chapel. The ministry will be taking place in the chapel, which is the windowed room on your left when you enter the sanctuary. Stay tuned for future dates when this ministry will be offered.

SEND OFF FOR LAURIE-ANN COPPLE!!!

It is with great joy to see how the Lord has led Laurie-Ann and her husband Tony to serve as missionaries with Iris Ministries in South Africa for three years! We are so excited for them as they step out in faith to help so those in need on the missions field. Laurie-Ann and Tony will be leaving on November 8, so this is the last Sunday we’ll get to see them before they leave. We plan to have a time of prayer for them at service tomorrow to send them off, so be sure to come and bless them. For more information on their ministry to South Africa, you can check out their website and Facebook page at the following links:

***TIDINGS FOR THIS WEEK AND BEYOND:

REMINDER: FASTING ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8!!!

Last Sunday Trisha called us to participate a 1-day corporate fast next Wednesday, November 8 and we invite you to pray about it and ask the Lord whether He’d like you to fast. The fast is specifically for Ottawa and the church of Ottawa. It is a general call to pray that God would completely have His way in the Ottawa region (for example, pray for lost souls, unity in the church, or whatever you feel led)! If you feel called to participate, you can do any kind of fast however the Lord leads you to fast (e.g., water fast, juice fast etc.) There is no need to sign-up to participate, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like any guidance.

INTERCESSORY PRAYER LIFE NEXT TUESDAY!!!

“Dear praying saints, anyone who is available and wants to join us, next Tuesday evening our home will be open for Intercession, 7-9pm. We plan to meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month. You are invited to come whenever you can.  The focus of this group is strengthening individual prayer warriors and interceding for CTF Ottawa.”

Joyful Tidings!!! October 28, 2017

Shalom!!!

We are only a few days away from the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation, which was an event that literally changed the course of history. Here is a historical tidbit about “Reformation Day” for those of you who are interested:

“Traditionally, 31 October 1517 is widely held to be the day German monk Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg…. Historians and other experts on the subject argue that Luther may have chosen All Hallows' Eve on purpose to get the attention of common people, although this has never been proven. Available data suggests that October 31 was when Luther sent his work to Albert of Brandenburg, the Archbishop of Mainz. This has been verified; nowadays, it is regarded as the start of the Reformation alongside the unconfirmed nailing of the Ninety-five Theses to All Saints' Church's door on the same date.”

As we consider our spiritual heritage and honour the resolve and courage of our forefathers who paved the way for us, here are some joyful tidings and friendly reminders for you all:

It’s that most wonderful time of the year when we reflect back on all the wonderful things we are thankful for. Thanksgiving is a powerful part of worship (Psalm 100:4) and is also an important part of God’s will for all of us: “16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Joyful Tidings!!! September 2, 2017

Merry Long Weekend Everyone!!!

Here is a historical tidbit on the origins of Labour Day to help enhance your Labour Day celebrations: “Labour Day (French: Fête du Travail) has been celebrated in Canada on the first Monday in September since the 1880s. The origins of Labour Day in Canada can be traced back to December 1872 when a parade was staged in support of the Toronto Typographical Union's strike for a 58-hour work-week….Labour leaders decided to call another similar demonstration on 3 September to protest the arrests. Seven unions marched in Ottawa, prompting a promise by Canadian Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald to repeal the "barbarous" anti-union laws.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labour_Day#Canada)

In addition to that piece of history, Here are some joyful tidings and friendly reminders for your reading pleasure:

"This is what's interesting about love; it can let you go. False love tends to cut or trap. But the love of God isn't like false love. It's true. It has the power to let you go and to hold you close. And because of that, it's the only love that has the power to heal your heart."
~Jason Upton
