(1 Corinthians 6:19)
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
Just today I was talking with a friend about taking better care of ourselves, and personally sometimes as a mom of little one in this season, some days I do forget to do this! Whether it be getting enough sleep , eating better, setting healthy boundaries, exercising , the list goes on.God not only calls us to take care and nourish our minds with his truth, and our spirits with his goodness, but also our bodies with care for we truly do carry the holy spirit within us and it is God's desire to see us live our best life in him. An illustration is this ; Maybe mom and dad want you to go to sleep because it is late and bedtime, but even though you are tired you would rather play , and not care about the consequences of not getting enough sleep. Your parents care for you and know that you need sleep, and you function a lot better the next day when you have had a good sleep. God is the same way as our parents, sometimes we keep doing something we know is not healthy or the best for us but God knows and reminds us that when we do take care of ourselves we can be the version of ourselves that he created us to be.
Do you like to sleep ?
Did you know that sleep is one of the ways we can take care of our bodies for God?
DISCUSSION ( SCHOOL AGE)
Did you know that your body is a temple of the holy spirit ?
How do you think God wants you to take better care of yourself?
Dear Father thank you for blessing us with your holy spirit to always be with us , and guide us to take care of ourselves! Emotionally, spiritually, and physically
Take some time this week as a family to each or together come up with a list of goals or an area in which you know you could work on to take better care of yourselves
( go to bed earlier, exercise, eat your veggies etc..)
Make it fun make a chart with stickers so that each time one of you makes an effort to complete a goal in taking better care of yourselves reward with a sticker, and over time it will all just become good habits toward living a better, fuller life in Jesus
