(1 SAMUEL 16:7) God looks at our hearts. “God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Have you ever felt like you needed to impress God? I know I am guilty of this from time to time! I think we all are whether it be trying to be “perfect”, or filling our lives with good deeds and busyness, that there is no room for healing. In principle it is not bad, to want to be a better person or do good things, but if we are doing these things because we want “to get right” with God and cover the areas of our hearts that need his loving touch, then that is where the problem lies. God is more concerned with the state of our heart, the heart of the matter, he wants our whole heart, because he gave us his whole heart through Jesus!
Where is your heart?
what would you like God to see in your heart?
DISCUSSION ( SCHOOL AGE)
what would someone not know about you just by looking at you?
what does it mean to look at someone's heart?
Dear Father, help us to give our whole heart to you, and not hide behind “good deeds”, and busyness,so that you may heal the areas that need your love, and extra care. Which will allow us to abandon the need for perfection, and to simply live and love abundantly as freely as Jesus loves us In Jesus name Amen
