A Home For You
Do you like those renovation programs? You know the ones—there’s a run-down house in need of repair, desperate for an upgrade. The pros come in and work their transforming magic. Then comes the big reveal, and the homeowners gasp, “Ooh! Ah! Oh my God! I can’t believe it! What a beautiful place!”
I love those shows, and many others do as well. Why? Because they pull on something deep within us—a longing that points to the truth that we are made for heaven. Jesus promises us a heaven so beautiful it is beyond even our ability to imagine.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Cor. 2:9)
The joy we feel when we see a run-down house transformed into a beautiful home is just a foretaste of what it will be like when we go to heaven. Every one of us has been given an awareness that there is more—a beautiful place waiting for us. We see this in Ecclesiastes 3:11: God has placed eternity in the human heart.
And Jesus is the great Builder.
He said in John 14:2, “In my Father’s house are many rooms… I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
He is preparing a place for you. Think about that—for over 2,000 years, Jesus has been preparing a home for you and for all who believe. How beautiful that will be! The joy we get from those renovation shows is only a drop compared to the ocean of joy we will experience in heaven.
This week, we celebrate Easter, focusing on all that Jesus has done for us—including the way He has made for us to spend eternity in heaven. Come join us as we give Jesus the worship, honor, and glory He deserves.
