Follow me, I'll get you through

Written by Jeff Duncan

My friend Paul was a long-haul transport driver for Home Hardware. Several years ago, while driving through a blizzard in the Alberta Rockies, he found himself fatigued, to the point that he began to drift into sleep. He pulled to the side of the road to rest. He was so drowsy that he didn’t realize the truck was still moving. After a short time, the big transport lurched to a halt, and he was jolted awake at the shock. He cried out to the Lord, “Oh Lord help me!”

A short time later, an empty flatbed pulled up behind him and the driver inquired over the CB radio, “Are you alright buddy?”
Paul replied, “I can’t see very well and I’m very tired.” Back over the CB came the response, ‘Follow me, I’ll get you through!”
The flatbed pulled in front. The snow continued, and Paul kept his eyes glued to the taillights of the heaven-sent assistant. After about 30 minutes, the snow had cleared a bit and Paul heard the trucker ask, “Are you OK now buddy?” Paul replied back, “Ya, doing fine.” The flatbed driver called back “OK, then I’ll be on my way!” With that, the flatbed accelerated and quickly disappeared into the distance.

Paul carried on for another twenty minutes or so, and came to a weigh scale station. As required for all trucks, Paul pulled his rig into the station. He chatted with the officer of the weigh scale station asking, “By the way, that empty flatbed, that would have been just ahead of me, where was he heading?” The officer looked back, shaking his head, “Buddy, there’s hasn’t been any other rig through here in hours. You’re the first rig I’ve seen in a while.”  Paul was incredulous and quipped back, “That big flatbed, it would’ve been here a few minutes ago!” Again, the officer replied that there had not been any other truck in hours. In disbelief at his words, Paul questioned him again a third time, only to hear the same response.

There were no egress roads between Paul’s encounter with the flatbed and this weigh scale station. All trucks had to enter this station. It was clear to Paul that he had an encounter with not only an angel, but an angel driving an 18-wheeler! As it sank in, he realized that the station attendant probably thought he was crazy, but Paul knew that the Lord had answered his cry for help.

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?  Heb. 1:14

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Heb 13:2

Angelic activity throughout the Bible was common. There are 280 recorded instances of angelic encounters in the Bible. When Peter was released from prison, he came knocking at the door of a prayer meeting, where the servant girl ran and told the people in the home that Peter was at the door. Incredulous, the people replied, “It can’t be Peter, it must be his angel.” Can you imagine how commonplace angels were in the biblical culture, that number one, it was expected for angels to show up at one’s door and secondly, no one ran to see to see the angel… just another angel at the door!

There is so much more we can learn about angels. For that reason, we are hosting an angel seminar with Charity Keyembe May 23rd -25th. You may know Charity’s father, Mark Virkler, who has been a pioneer in training people around the world on how to hear God’s voice. Charity began seeing her angels and angels assigned to her at an early age. When she told her parents about such encounters, they encouraged her and taught her that it was biblical. Charity has gone on to discover so much more about angels and has become an author and recognized authority on the subject.
