O Canada!

As I sit here today, my heart is full of gratitude for the beauty of the country we call home and the goodness of God. My husband and I have had an interesting travel year. We have been to the west coast of Canada, driven from Ottawa to the center of Canada, and most recently driven from Ottawa to the east coast with a visit to Prince Edward Island. The scenery on each journey was unfailingly uplifting and inspiring.

Let’s take a moment to marvel at the creativity and diversity of God’s creation. From the majestic Rocky Mountains to the prairie fields to the oceans on our coastlines, we are surrounded by an infinite variety of plants, animals, and landscapes that take our breath away. We are so blessed to be living in Canada.

Who is able to design something as diverse as the sculpin fish (seen in the picture above. We saw one that was caught by a fellow fisherman while we were on a deep sea fishing trip in PEI.) alongside the humpback whale and the playful otter? Only our God–the one we love and who loves us. This is the God who sent His very own Son to take the consequences of sin upon Himself so that we might return to our destinies as sons and daughters of the Most High. You see His loving fingerprints all around us.

Have you prayed for Canada and our peoples and governments lately? This song by Lianna Klassen expresses some of my prayers for Canada: https://youtu.be/qvoV6Oo50oE?si=dd_y0u1kEAlSWxup.

Today is a good day to say thank you for this wondrous place called Canada, and to ask that the Lord would preserve our freedoms and bring truth and righteousness to our people. Sometimes we can be overwhelmed by the ‘bad news’ that is spoken around us. Let’s not forget to appreciate all that is good and to celebrate what God has done in Canada, our home and native land.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:20
