Jeff & Cheryl Duncan

Pastors

Jeff and Cheryl Duncan joined Catch the Fire Ottawa in September 2020 as lead pastors. Jeff and Cheryl have a history with Catch The Fire that goes back to their teen years when they were worship leaders in John and Carol Arnott’s first church in Stratford.

For many years, Jeff was in business and Cheryl was a homemaker and educator. Jeff’s business led them to live in Barrie, Guelph, Edmonton, and Calgary, where they attended Vineyard churches, participating in a variety of leadership roles that included church planters, staff worship leaders, staff children’s pastors, small group leaders, and youth leaders. Before coming to Ottawa, they were pastors at Singing Waters Ministries, Orangeville, a healing and training centre.

Jeff likes to preach and teach and minister healing to bodies and souls. Cheryl has a passion for children, hospitality and caring for people. She also likes to teach. They both love worshipping and leading worship.

Jeff and Cheryl have 3 married children with 7 grandchildren. Jeff likes cycling, basketball, and squash. Cheryl loves to participate in aquafit, cook and read a good book.

Sharon Remmerswaal

administrator

Hi, I'm Sharon, the administrator at Catch the Fire Ottawa Church. After retiring from a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, I’ve found joy and purpose in supporting our church’s mandate by helping with the day to day operating tasks at CTFO. I also teach a day a week as a supply teacher in the Ottawa Catholic Board whenever I can.

I am married to Dan, who is also a retired teacher who still enjoys supply teaching. We are blessed with three wonderful sons—two happily married—and four beautiful granddaughters who make us smile and bring beauty to our days. Our family is spread out: Ottawa, Sudbury, Kenora, Winnipeg, British Columbia, and Japan.

When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, and try to visit with my family when possible. I also enjoy the water (fishing, swimming, kayaking, aquafit), reading, watching drama series, and having people over to talk about God and to worship together.

Jason and Amy Hughes

Worship pastors

Jason and Amy Hughes serve as the Worship Pastors at Catch the Fire Ottawa, where they lead the congregation in Christ-centered, Spirit-filled worship each week. With a heart to genuinely connect with God and a passion for helping others experience His presence, they desire to see people radically transformed by life changing encounters with God.

With over 26 combined years in worship ministry, they bring experience, creativity, and a deep love for the church. They have a desire to disciple worship team members, develop young leaders, and foster a culture of worship that extends beyond the platform and into everyday life.

Jason and Amy met while working with Youth With a Mission where they served on staff for a number of years; leading Discipleship Schools, outreach teams, and other various ministries.  It is there that the Lord really began cultivating a heart for worship, and they were given the opportunity to step out in worship leading & preaching for the first time.

Outside of ministry, they keep busy raising 3 children and running their own design and renovation business where they strive to bring the Kingdom to the marketplace. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, discovering new music, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
