What if seeking his face means seeking his face?

What if seeking His face meant seeking His face?

For years the phrase, “Seek His face” was only a metaphor to me. To me, seeking His face implied being fervent and passionate. To really seek the face of God meant hours of intense prayer. But what if to seek His face meant to seek His face?

We gathered for prayer on Parliament Hill Wednesday evening. We used the well-known scripture 2 Chr. 7:14 as a guide for our prayers.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I’ve known and quoted this scripture for years but never had the revelation about the instruction to seek His face that was buried here in plain sight, so to speak. Seeking His face is not a metaphor. It’s an “and” to prayer. It means what it says. We are to look for the face of God. David said “I keep my eyes always on the Lord.” Psa. 16:8. This was not metaphor. And in the battle of Jehoshaphat, when the whole nation gathered in Jerusalem when under attack, they uttered this profound prayer, “We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chr. 20:12

Jesus looked constantly for His Father’s face. He said, “I only do what I see my Father doing.

Seeing God’s face, like seeing most all things in the Spirit, is looking for faint impressions. This takes faith.

As we walked on Parliament Hill and prayed on Wednesday, I looked for my Father’s face and I saw not only His face, but His big arms holding our nation. I thought of the song, He’s got the whole world in His hands. And I saw His face, with a look of confidence and authority and reassurance.  A picture is worth a 1000 words. Instantly this picture of my Father and His big loving, protective arms filled me with faith and joy. He is our protector and provider. We will not fear when we see His face.

Let’s always be looking for His face. When we see Him, everything changes.
