Honey in the Rock
He nourished him with honey from the rock Deut 32:13
But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you. Psalm 81:16
Have you ever been caught between a rock and a hard place? My mind goes to when one son was caught up with drugs and drinking while at the same time, our other son was so deep in anxiety and depression he could not go to school for an entire year. Yikes! It was tough! But oh! the sweetness of God’s presence! Time and time again, with disappointments, the death of my father, leaving loved ones behind, hurt feelings–God has been a sweet, fortifying Presence.
Have you found ‘honey in the rock’? Honey speaks of sweetness, nourishment, healing, and preservation. A rock speaks of many things as well. It can mean a place of difficulty, since a rock is hard. Or perhaps it is referring to Jesus, who is our firm foundation and the ‘chief cornerstone’. Either way, we want to find honey in the rock.
The Bible shows us that we can find the presence of God and His love for us in every circumstance. Difficulties and hardships cause us to cry out to God for help and comfort. From the end of the earth I will cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2
Sometimes we forget that there is honey in the rock. Are you in a rocky place? Run to The Rock and seek His honey. Go deep into the cleft in the rock, where the honey is. Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD. Don’t try and solve it on your own. Tell your Heavenly Father all about it, and let Him fortify you with His sweet Presence.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2
…for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ Corinthians 10:4
